slow dowwwwn

There we go. One sock down, one to go. And with a decent picture of the colour this time. I love how the the yarn ended up striping around the leg.

And for good measure, a picture I made for my mother's birthday a few weeks ago.

ROY G BIV

This isn't really here nor there, but these are the buttons that I used to stabilize the actual closure buttons on my secret project. I know the photos are kind of washed out (in a hurry to go play in the sun, rather than use it take photos), but I can assure you that I represented the whole rainbow in there. It's one of those little details that no-one will ever really see, but I like to know it's there.

photo-happy

Let's see, I got some Shibui sock yarn (for an upcoming birthday, I think) in colour 21, which I love. We shall see how it ends up working up...

I am past the heel on the first of Ms. R's Fleece Artist socks (I tore through the foot, then life got in the way). I'm using the same recipe as the last pair I knit. I cannot for the life of me get a decent shot of the colours...

This totally made my day, I found this tied to my handlebars when I came out of the cafe I had lunch (and knit on Ms. R's socks) in. I saw a few more tags here and there as I mucked about downtown.

I got some buttons for the secret project. Somehow, I think y'all can guess what it is. (not 100% on the buttons, but I'm leaning towards yes. If not, I can finally start a button box!)

The Scarflet made it out East and has seen more snow than I have this year. I hear that it is well loved and enjoying it's new life. I will not be writing up a pattern for it, as there are plenty of examples out there, and this one was too similar to some others for me to be comfortable stamping it as my own. But really, 6" wide by about two feet long with button holes at one end in some fun textured stitch, remembering to add a border if it is likely to curl. Pick your favourite stitch and go nuts!

Whew, I think that is all for today. Have a good one, peoples!

*collapse*

Reading break! *collapses*

I really have not had the presence of mind the last week to update with anything, so I promise that I shall catch up in the next few days, really!

I have some nice pictures of the Scarflet (and a response to everyone who asked about a pattern), a small sock update, and perhaps a secret update (but no promises on that).

Other than that, I hope you all have been well lately (oh wow, I have not updated in almost 2 weeks, did not notice it had been so long), and that you and yours are fighting off the seasonal illnesses (I've been on the verge of almost-kind-of-not-really-sick-but-exhausted-as-a-result, so watch me crash this week).

Until later!

FO + WIP = Productive?

Let's start with the FO, shall we?

I finished this a couple of weeks ago, but the factors involved (being some degree of half-decent weather and me willing to go outside) kept this at bay. I just bit the bullet, and hung out in my pyjamas in the backyard this morning (as if my neighbours didn't already think I'm nuts). So they're not the beeeeest photos, but enjoy regardless.

Pattern: Koolhaas by Jared Flood (Interweave Holiday issue 2007)
Yarn: Malabrigo Worsted c.195
Needles: Bamboo DPNs (Clover) 4.0mm and 5.0mm
Size: Larger, 5 repeats
Time: A week and a half?

I definitely knit on this one during some of my... less engrossing classes, shhh.
Great pattern (as was to be expected). Awesome yarn (I know, black for cables? tsk tsk!). Overall it requires a fair bit of attention-paying, but it's quite easy to get into the groove (especially if you cable without a needle). Oh bugger, I just realized that I miscrossed a cable... design feature, anyone? I'm not sure if I would use Malabrigo for this again, it's soft, but on the other hand, it's soft, if you follow me. I am glad I knit the 5th repeat, although it is a hair too long, but that's not a big deal for me, I don't mind a little bit of a brim on this.

Verdict? I would knit it again, probably with a different yarn for fun, and if you have access to the pattern, go for it!

Ok, WIP time... Socks! (well, I need something portable while I'm working on the big project...)
I need to check with the recipient to make sure my colour choice is kosher, not that I would mind keeping this colourway for myself, so much fun! (Again, Fleece Artist basic merino sock kit, and it has great yardage! 115g for... I think it came to $23CAD?)

Have a good February peoples!
